Welcome to our July newsletter. We've tried to capture the energy and excitement of the month's activities — we hope you enjoy the read.
Without the generous donations and support from individuals, businesses and organisations, iKamva Labantu would be unable to operate as it does. Thank you for helping us "make a difference". Have a wonderful August.

Art of the matter

This month 20 children from our programme participated in a three-day art workshop at The Rainbow Centre. The workshop, which took place from 1 to 3 July, was facilitated by an Italian couple, Andrea and Sabrina, and was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. At the end of the workshop there were 38 pieces of art (including frames and designs), which were auctioned off at the Bell-Roberts Gallery for R800 a piece!
Clean-up time

This month, we were busy cleaning four of our food gardens – namely Phaphamani, Enkululekweni, Monwabisi and Mzamomhle – in order to prepare them for the upcoming season of planting. We’d like to say a very special thanks to the MylifE Foundation, who helped with the clean-up.
Golden oldies

Members from all 17 seniors clubs participated in the Golden Games, a DSD Older Persons Programme Initiative, which was held on 30 June at the University of Stellenbosch. The provincial event will be taking place in Paarl in September.
Baby steps

Last week, some members of iKamva Labantu delivered toys to Kideo, a crèche in Nyanga that’s been doing an exceptional job of helping to provide a warm and safe learning environment for children in that township. The principal was so appreciative of our donations, and we will continue to deliver toys and provide assistance to these crèches, as they provide an invaluable service to our children. Thank you to Kideo for being a shining light to all the preschools and caregivers out there.
