Acquiring Skills

Grassroots funded the training of all senior-sector club assistants as facilitators of governance training. In total, 12 club assistants and two co-ordinators received training and were delighted with their certificates on successful completion of the course.

Bingo!

The South African Union of Jewish Women sponsored and facilitated a Fun Day, held at the Rainbow Centre in Gugulethu. Nine clubs consisting of 200 seniors attended this very successful event. A tasty lunch, treats, prizes and Bingo sets were provided.

On Top Of The World

One of the highlights of September was the "Take our seniors up the mountain" project. Discovery Health came to the party and very generously sponsored the cable-car tickets to get the seniors up and down Table Mountain. The 100 seniors in attendance also enjoyed a wonderful lunch together.

Masiphumelele

September also saw the beginning of the reconstruction the Masiphumelele seniors club at Browns Farm in Philippi. The club is going to be upgraded to a multipurpose centre that will better serve the Philippi community. On completion, we will bring you the before-and-after pictures.
